The government federal nor state should have the power to say who should get married. This right should be left up to the minister that is asked to preform the ceremony and only that minister. The existing bans on same sex marriage as well as DOMA are a violation of several amendments.

The first amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. as they are based on religion, the ninth amendment: The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. as they deny same sex couples the right to marry while retaining that right for Opposite sex couples. And the 14th amendment: Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. as it deny's same sex couples equal protection under the laws.
