The amendment in the Rules committee plans to have you be aware of a car approaching from behind within 300 ft. Do you hear every car? Should your attention be behind you or in front of you? Should more than 5 cyclists go single file and make it longer than an 18 wheeler to pass you? Doesn’t single file encourage the dangerous “squeeze by” mentality of motorists? Aren’t the traffic engineers and planners in your community working on ways to slow traffic down? Then why are we worried about speeding traffic up? Bikes are traffic! We also by other parts of the code allowed to impede traffic and take the lane if danger is perceived. So this is in conflict.
